Ep39. Radiate Beauty with Vilma Subel

5/28/2019

Today I sit with Vilma Subel to discuss beauty—inside and out. Vilma is a visionary, empath, space holder, hair artist, and owner of Xiphium Salon in Leawood, KS.

Vilma Subel has owned and operated Xiphium Salon in Leawood, Kansas, along with her husband, Tom since 1996. Vilma has been in the beauty industry 35+ years. She also is a 3rd Degree Seichim Reiki Energy practitioner, Embeautyment practitioner, and photographer.

Her love for what she does is influenced by her passion for drawing out the inner beauty from her guests by “seeing” past their exterior and connecting with their spirit. Vilma combines art with nurturing each individual to help them discover and embrace their unique and beautiful self—their “beauty narrative”. Her goal is to transform beauty beyond the physical. She feels so fortunate to be able to tap into and create art on multi-dimensional, energetic canvases. This is her way of spreading love and joy into her community and beyond.

Ep38. Radiate Your Inner Clown with Beth Byrd-Lonski

5/21/2019

If you can’t tell by listening, we recorded this episode on April Fool’s Day! In this episode, I sit down with Beth Byrd-Lonski to talk clown energy (who knew?), creating characters, and the serious art of being silly.

Beth Byrd-Lonski has been a professional mime, clown, physical theater artist, producer of physical theater, and teacher since 1982. Beth creates unique clown, mime and themed characters for parties, weddings, special occasions, corporate events, etc. and tours the country as a solo artist for schools and libraries as well as collaborating with various artists and arts organizations to create original material. She has trained with Marcel Marceau and—literally—ran into her hero Red Skelton and a room full of circus clowns at Gates BBQ in midtown Kansas City.

Beth is a Physical Theater Artist who uses aspects of Mime, Clown, Music, Poetry, Art, Dance, and pure Physical Theater to create original work. Dealing with themes which go beyond words such as emotion and humanity, Physical Theater speaks directly to the essence of mankind; it is immediate, intimate, familiar, and universal. Beth strives to relate to her audience through skilled performance as well as through shared experiences.

She chooses projects, commissions or assignments that challenge her to become a better performer, as well as a better human being. Whether it’s a commission from a gallery to interpret visual art through Physical Theater, a project with musicians to create a Bastille Day performance or a request to perform a Marcel Marceau tribute solo—each performance is a unique collaboration with fellow artists and the audience.

Ep37. Radiate the Paranormal with Jim Harold

5/14/2019

In this episode, Christi jumps into the “woo-woo” with Jim Harold, the “OG of the Paranormal”. Having begun podcasting on the paranormal in 2005, Jim is among a handful of pioneers of the medium. His programs have stood the test of time, and The Paranormal Podcast and Jim Harold’s Campfire remain among the most popular in the genre. As a result, Jim has also become a published author with his Campfire series. All five books in the series have been #1 Supernatural Best Sellers on Kindle at various times. Find them all at amazon.com.

After over a decade of working on the business side of media, Jim decided it was time to dust off his broadcast training and step back behind the mic, launching The Paranormal Podcast in 2005. A lifelong interest in the paranormal, combined with his love of broadcasting and technology, have resulted in some of the most successful podcasts of their type to date.

Jim lives in Ohio with his fantastic wife, Dar, and two daughters. He is incredibly thankful for them and his loyal audience. For more information about Jim Harold’s many podcasts and books, and to join Jim’s email list, Harold’s Happenings, visit jimharold.com. Ep36. Radiate Authenticity with Chris Goode

5/7/2019

In this episode, I sit down with the owner of my “happy place,” Ruby Jean’s Juicery.

Chris Goode was a freshman in high school on the football team when his grandmother Ruby Jean passed away from complications related to Type II diabetes, an illness he attributes largely to her growing up on a diet focused on ‘soul food’. The experience of watching his grandmother, great grandmother, and other members of his family suffer from preventable disease was the spark for a passionate run toward health food later in life.

For years, Chris was a Traveling Catastrophe Adjuster—a fancy term for someone who travels to disaster sites to assess damages for insurance claims, traveling constantly for work and seeking juicing to stay healthy on the road. One day, he woke up in a hotel room and couldn’t even remember what city he was in. He decided he was going to get out of the rat race somehow and started saving up every penny he could. Reflecting on his love of juicing and his grandma, it hit him what he would do:  "It was like God reached through the clouds and was like: 'Dude, open a juice bar and dedicate it to your grandma!'"

Now Goode dedicates his passion for bringing healthy, nutritious, whole foods to communities in the Midwest with Ruby Jean’s Juicery. His vision for providing healthy nutrition continues to expand, with 6 new locations, including a juice truck, on his plate right now.

For more information about Ruby Jean’s menu, locations, and more, visit rubyjeansjuicery.com.
