Stephanie Carey, author the debut time travel/chick lit novel (and fun beach read) Blindsided, developed an appetite for books at a very young age. At one point her elementary school librarian said she was running out of fiction books to recommend because Stephanie had already read so much of the library! When she was in college at Milligan University, Stephanie worked at the student union grill serving up hamburgers and chicken fingers. The journalism professor at the school was a regular, and one day, Stephanie decided to tell him she loves to write. He scowled at her and told her she probably didn’t know how to write, but if she took his Journalism 101 class, he could teach her. At that moment, a journalist was born.
Stephanie went on to write for The Rocky Mount Telegram, and then into radio where she hosted Morning Edition and covered news in Evansville, IN. She explored a variety of jobs in the media sector before where she was inspired to one day own her own media company. In 2018, Stephanie became the co-owner and publisher of The Pitch, an alternative newspaper in Kansas City. Her biggest flex is that she kept it alive during the height of COVID. She sold The Pitch in 2021 and now works in tech sales and lives on The Country Club Plaza with her prison rescue dog, Frannie.
